Clause 1(Scope)-Note 3 Interpretation of the third paragraph’s note 3

Note 3 as below:
NOTE 3 Attention is drawn to the fact that
– for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary;
– in many countries, additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities, the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour, the national water supply authorities and similar authorities.

Generally speaking, for the appliances used in vehicles, ships or aircrafts, it is necessary to add the test of transportation vibration, but part 1 does not give the transportation and vibration test standards to be met; usually, the test requirements for transportation and vibration as well as the reference standards will be given in part 2 of the standard. For example, standard IEC 60335-2-24 for household refrigerators adds detailed vibration test requirements for vehicle refrigerators, and IEC 60335-2-30 for small space heaters used in vehicles gives requirements for drop and vibration tests.

IEC 60335-2-40:2022 provide a vibration standard ISO 13355:2016, Packaging − Complete, filled transport packages and unit loads − Vertical random vibration test.
There are a number of standards for transportation vibration testing, and often the standards give multiple modes of vibration, such as road, sea, air, and rail. If part 2 does not specify which mode of transportation is to be tested, the tester needs to select the mode of transportation based on actual conditions, experience, and customer requirements or information.

The second dash corresponds to the following
– In many countries, additional requirements are imposed by national health authorities, national authorities responsible for labor protection, national water supply authorities and similar authorities.

Different countries have different requirements for food safety and different levels of labor protection. Often, this part of the requirements will be provided in the national deviation clause, and some of the requirements will also be proposed independently of the regulations or standards in this standard. For example, for some food handling electrical products, some additional requirements are proposed to avoid the contamination of food when the electrical products come into contact with food.
