Clause 3 – How to understand the definition of “rated frequency”
rated frequency: frequency assigned to the appliance by the manufacturer.
In generally, the rated frequency is the standard utility frequency of the target market country at the time the product is designed. Since worldwide, there are only two utility frequencies, 50Hz and 60Hz, the value can only be 50Hz or 60Hz, or both 50 and 60Hz.
Rated frequency, rated current or rated power input, rated voltage, etc. are the basic parameters that characterize the appliance, which are derived from the needs of the target market as well as the utility conditions.
When we test according to the standard, we set our test conditions according to these parameters. Therefore, these parameters must be confirmed before the test, otherwise it will lead to duplication of work, and produce wrong test results.
