Clause 3 – How to understand the definition of “supply leads”

supply leads: set of wires intended for connecting the appliance to fixed wiring and accommodated in a
compartment within or attached to the appliance

There are two restrictions that need to be emphasized here. The first is that it must be contained in a compartment, which can generally be a plastic electrical box, or a recessed position on the appliance, which can be used to place wires. The second condition is the wires. The wires here are different from cords. This type of wire is the common wire with only one layer of insulating wire sheath. This type of wire sheath is generally brown or blue. If it is a ground wire, it is yellow-green.

As shown in photos below, this part shows the fixed and supply connection for ceiling fan. The wires coming out of the rod can generally be directly connected to the fixed wiring (that is, the wiring on the top of the room, or the terminal block). This part of the wire is usually an ordinary wire with a layer of wire sheath. Because it can be placed in the upper bell, it can be considered a lead.
