\nIn previous versions of the standard, there was relatively little focus and mention of DC-powered products, and those using battery<\/strong><\/a> power. As we mentioned, standards often lag behind products and technologies. In previous versions of the standard, the requirements were more focused on AC-powered products; as technology has evolved and more battery-powered products and DC-powered products have been designed and introduced to the market, the standard has been updated to take these requirements into account. A typical example is clause 12 – Charging of metal-ion batteries.
