Clause 3 – Terms and definitions: general interpretation

If I were to give training to some engineers who are not familiar with the IEC 60335-1 standard, I think there are two ways to go about it. The first is, to explain and give examples according to the order of the clause numbering, which is the method I often use; the second, to explain based on each DEFINITION of the third clause, first to help engineers understand the definition of a certain term, and then give examples, and then do the explanation of all the requirements in the standard about this definition or term.
The second method is more advantageous for training some senior engineers. So, I want to do my best to explain every definition clearly.
Here, what I want to tell you is that the definition is very important, and different standards may define the same term differently, which requires the reader to grasp carefully to avoid confusion.
